Not my cooking! But, I wanted to make note of this culinary masterpiece. It’s not just curry, it’s Duck Curry and from none other than Austin’s very own, Sip Saam! My husband and I have probably eaten at this place well over 50 times. It’s our rainy day pick-me-up, our happy food place, our take others to treat them to something comforting yet amazingly delicious place.
We’ve tried almost everything on their menu and by far my favorite is their Duck Curry. The curry is smooth, rich, creamy, and can come with a nice kick (especially if you order it level 5 and up spicy) and yet has a crisp clean aftertaste from the hint of sweet and acidity. The ingredients are always super fresh with whole plump mini tomatoes, chucks of pineapple, and red and green bell peppers. The main event in this dish, as it is named, is the crispy duck. The portion is super generous, including both legs and multiples slices of the best cuts of skin on meat. And, by some sort of magic, even swimming in curry, the duck remains crispy on the outside but moist and flavorful in the inside. Toss on a few sprigs of basil and, truly, the flavors, colors, and aroma makes this dish simply a full delight to all of the senses!
Really though, don’t just read about it. If you are ever in the Austin area and crave something simply delicious, come to Sip Saam; order a Duck Curry, and while you are at it, add a glass of Thai Tea. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
